OCTOBER 31, 2005

The girls went trick-or-treating just down our block with momma. Later Mike and Signe came over with Olivia and Mike and Michael took the girls out together for a little more candy.

Emily was cute when kids came to our door. She would run over to the door and say, "do you like my dress?". Then one kid asked for a sucker, which we didn't have, so Emily took Bethany's out of her pumpkin and handed it to the kid. It's not like I could take it away though, so I just made Emily give one of hers to sissy.

Bethany is now 21 months. Two years is looming near! She actually asked me to do her hair and left it in for awhile. She has been going around singing (see her microphone in the picture). She still moves and dances with any music, even if it's just commercials.

She still wants to eat with her fingers rather than utensils most of the time. We still give her sippy cups, but she has tried regular cups. Her 18 month pants are still pretty roomy on her. She's a skinny little thing. She has been saying sentences but instead of saying all of the words, she just says "uh" as a substitute. The words that she does say aren't clear at all. This is what I do professionally and I can't get what she's saying most of the time. I'll guess and she'll either say, "bes" (for yes) or "nooooooo" (in a really  tiny, high pitched voice).

Today Michael carved a Jack-O-Lantern for the girls. We stayed outside and shivered while we watched. Tonight Michael brought it in and put a candle in it. Emily thought that it was pretty cool, but Bethany was scared (as always).

We got family pictures taken tonight. It didn't go so smoothly, but not terrible. Hopefully there will be some good shots. Here we are preparing for our all black shots. Emily was crazy for my straight hair, I guess since it was like hers?

Today is my Dad's birthday- 51.

I got my grade from this last class I took. I got an A. Whew!

OCTOBER 16, 2005

Mike got married this weekend and Michael was his best man. It was a nice ceremony and we got to meet more of his new wife's family. We hadn't been to Omaha before. We really liked it. The best part was not having the kids there though. Thanks Carolyn!

OCTOBER 13, 2005

I have a few things to be happy about-

1. My final is over- another 3 credit hours done in a whirlwind 8 weeks. And I finished the 2 hour final in 45 min. I hope that's a good sign?

2. People told me that I looked good today. Thank you Dillards. I will now be buying clothing from there more often, guaranteed.

3. My work is done for the week. We're off for a long weekend without kids to Mike's wedding.

4. I exercised (hard) and lifted weights and I wasn't dying by the end of my workout.

5. Michael took the afternoon off work to do the laundry and clean the whole house before I got home from work.

What a nice day! Well, much better than most at least.

Happy Jeridy

OCTOBER 7, 2005

Tonight Emily had a little conversation with Michael at the dinner table. The "why" conversations have begun!

Emily: Why did you have me when I was a baby?

Michael: Because you were born.

Emily: But why??

Michael: Because you came out of mommy's tummy.

Emily: But why was I borned out of her tummy?

Michael: Because mommy and daddy love each other and we love you too.

Emily: Well, why was Bethany born?

We just both laughed and shook our heads. Of course she wouldn't assume the same thing for her sister, right? I thought Michael handled that pretty well. Since he did so well, I think I'll let him handle the sex talk when they're older too.

Praise be to God- Emily actually stopped while she was playing to go in and go potty. Maybe, just maybe, she'll be potty trained before she's 20?? Michael and the kids danced around like crazy people tonight. It was cute. He couldn't dance with one without giving the other a turn.

It's definitely fall now. The weather is getting cooler. It's nice for playing outdoors though. The kids played on their toys while Michael and I played catch. I'm terrible- I was wiped out after we ate supper. I laid on the couch and crashed at 7 something. Michael woke me up to get in bed at 11, but then I couldn't even sleep. uh...

OCTOBER 5, 2005

I just love working around old people. They are so complimentary. I don't think I've ever been told that I'm beautiful that many times. How nice! Of course, I look around and see what they have to look at all day and realize that's the reason they think I'm so stunning. Yeah, plus the fact that many of them are blind and/or demented... we'll skip that though. Hey, I should look better, I've lost 21 pounds. It's not that nice when your husband says, "Nah,I can't really tell because you're still fat." Great- I'm just going to head over to see the people over at the nursing home, thanks. (I think he's asking for some pictures of his fatness to be on the journal with a comment like that.)

My current grad school class is nearly over. I'm counting down- three sessions to go. I don't have a clear grasp of how to account for property, plant, and equipment, annuities and bond calculations, or pretty much anything in previous sections of the course, but it's nearly done and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to pass even if I get a 50% on my last test. Whew!

Bethany, Grandma Jenny, Bea Dog, & Emily

Tonight my mom came over so that she could see the kids while she's still on leave after her surgery. She visited with me before they got home, ate supper with us, and watched Cinderella with the girls.

Emily asked my mom, "are you a teacher?" while we were eating supper. She's not. I guess Emily assumed that's what Grandmas do since that's what Gma Carolyn does. Mom explained that she is a secretary. Emily said, "Oh! a sec-re-tator".

OCTOBER 2, 2005

We hardly ever get any pictures together, so I'll just put some side-by-side. I had a conference to attend Fri/Sat in KC then I headed to Otis to meet up with Michael and the kids. They had a great time riding the jeeps with the cousins, playing at grandma Jenny's (finding Barbie catalogs) and at grandma Carolyn's (running into the pond and getting princess panties).
