< HomeMARCH 31, 2006 Emily had her follow up for her tonsil surgery. She's doing fine, with the exception of her voice still sounding funny. She's feeling fine and breathing well though. Emily strips off her clothes and puts on princess or dorothy dresses as soon as she gets home every day. She and Bethany play constantly. They love to sing, dance, dress up, and build castles and houses. Emily also loves my wedding ring, which she calls my 'married ring'. She asked if she could get married when she grows up so that she could have a married ring. I told her that that would be fine. Then she hesitantly asked if she could wear my 'married dress'. I told her that she couldn't, but she could get her own when she grows up. Then she let me know that she'd like to get married now. I said she'd have to have a boy to marry first. She looked around and said, "I can marry daddy then." Hahaha! This morning, Michael asked Emily if she wanted to be a speech therapist like mommy, an artist like daddy, a farmer like Grandpa Dellane, a railroader like Grandpa John, or a teacher like Grandma Carolyn. She immediately said she wants to be a teacher like grandma. Michael looked disappointed. When he went into the other room, Emily said, "Daddy would be more glad if I was a artist like him, so maybe I can do that when I'm little then be a teacher like grandma when I grow up." I had to laugh. Maybe she'll be a politician with those problem solving skills that cater to the feelings of others? Baby boy is making me miserable. Just this week my legs/ankles started swelling again. I guess I spoke too soon- hopefully they won't get too bad. I think this kid hurts me more than the other two did combined. They wiggled, but this one actually hurts as it moves around and pushes and stuff. My work ladies noticed that my belly looked lower by the end of the week too. I noticed that I feel just as tired when I wake up as I do when I go to bed and I can't get around so very well. Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
1) Michael tickles Emily. 2)Emily fights back. (No, really Michael just wanted to be dramatic) 3/31/06
MARCH 26, 2006 We spent time back at the Villa this weekend. The girls really look forward to playing there and seeing the family. They got to see Jordyn and Karley, as well as the grandparents on both sides. At the farm we watched old 8mm movies of Michael when he was a little kid. It was fun to see those old movies and how much Bethany resembles little Michael. Michael let me know that I'm getting 'puffed up' again. I guess that's fine since I'm near the end of things anyway. My face does look funny, but at least I'm not swelling like I did with Emily! Bethany's funny for the weekend: As we were driving back home, Bethany exclaimed, "My nose, my nose!" Michael asked her if she was hurt or if she needed a Kleenex or what. She said, "No, it STINKS! It stinks!". She did this as we were driving down the interstate and had passed a skunk. I guess she hadn't yet experienced that lovely smell before, so she didn't understand what was happening. Isn't it strange how kids interpret things? Emily, Jeridy, Michael, & Bethany at the Villa

MARCH 20, 2006 We had another full weekend. Friday, I got home from work just in time to change and leave for Michael's work party. Aunt Jaimee and baby Breonna came down to see the girls and spend the night. Emily just smiled the whole time Breonna was around. She liked making the baby smile and laugh. Saturday, Jennifer, Chris, Matthew, and Christiane came over. They brought back a bunch of baby stuff, along with a new crib for baby boy. We set it up and continued rearranging things for baby's new room. The weather for the first day of spring was typical for Kansas- snow and rain- when it has been so nice out. I had another baby doc appointment today. The baby is being stubborn and not turning around. I have time yet though- about 7 or 8 weeks to go. Baby boy is due May 15th.

3/19/06 Bethie & Emily liked helping to get baby boy's room ready for his arrival MARCH 13, 2006 Michael has been working hard on Global Flyer stuff through his work at K-State. The flight is to take off on Tuesday morning and he set it up to track the flight the whole time. The pilot, Steve Fosset, stopped in and told Michael that the website looked good, so Michael was pretty happy about that. He made the page that I've linked to below: http://www.salina.k-state.edu/globalflyer/index.html The rest of us are doing fine. I keep losing my darn voice, which is quite a job hazard. It would be GREAT if I could only stay well. Emily has this terrible voice issue now that she has had her tonsils/adenoids out. It's a mess and of course Michael thinks I should just be able to fix her right up. (Hey you other SLPs, give me ideas if you have them.) Bethany has started to really play and pretend with Emily now. She talks more and more every day. She has been saying things like, "This daddy. On! Teddy bear on me! Go get diaper on me." (when she wanted help putting her pajamas on and getting ready for bed). Bethany playing at the park 3/13/06. Spring is coming soon! MARCH 7, 2006 Michael decorated the play area with Wizard of Oz stuff. The kids really like it. MARCH 5, 2006 Michael turned 29 this weekend. He wanted to go back home, so we went to his parents house and to the pancake supper.
MARCH 3 , 2006 Emily finally got her tonsils, adenoids, and ear tubes out today. She had a hard time, but at least it's done.
