< HomeJune 19, 2006 - Chase 6 weeks Chase is 6 weeks old. As I said before, he no longer has his bird legs. He has little fat rolls, but still no butt. He still likes to eat and eat when mommy is around. I think he likes my chest more than anything else- it has food, warmth, and is a lovely cushiony pillow when he dozes off. Eating and sleeping are man's two favorite pass times and it starts early! He went to the sitter for partial days this week and did really well. He took bottles there, up to five ounces. He's more of a snacker still. His hair hasn't fallen out, so he still has his crazy mane of light brown hair. His eyes are still blue too. I can tell that he has grown this week just looking at him!
Chase 6 weeks old June 18, 2006 - Father's Day Emily had her very first program today. They did the bible school songs during the church service. She didn't particpate much. She was shy and scared. She even said that she felt sick (thanks for passing that on Daddy). Grandma and Grandpa Oetken were able to come to the program since it rained and they couldn't harvest anyway. Grandma Pam was there since it is her church that we attended. The girls liked having them all there. We went out to eat with Michael's parents for Father's Day. Michael got himself his own father's day gift this year since I guess he thinks he deserves it- his stupid TV. Since he wasted our family's money on this, we didn't get him anything. Of course, that's exactly what he got me on Mother's day, so oh well. Happy Father's Day, jackass. 6/18/06: Michael's obsession and love
Michael-- Happy Father's Day - from your family
June 16, 2006 - Emily made it through a week of her very first ever bible school experience. I survived it too. It's my sister's 31st birthday today- Happy Birthday, old lady. Haha- she'll always be a whoppin' 19 months older than I am. Happy Birthday, Jennifer Chase smiled for real for the first time today (okay, it's what we're counting as the first real one anyway). He smiled at mommy over lunch and daddy was there to witness it! Since then he has smiled at the girls, but Michael says he hasn't caught him smiling at him yet. He will soon enough. Here is another crazy thing- Chase no longer has bird legs. You know how those tiny baby legs look funny? Well, when I woke up this morning and went to change him the bird legs were gone! They were replaced by chubby baby legs with fat rolls. Maybe it didn't really happen over night, but Michael and I noticed it today and didn't any time before this. It's amazing that babies can grow and even get fat rolls from just eating momma's milk. 6/14/06: Jeridy & Chase - look at him pushing and holding up his head! June 12, 2006 Chase is 5 weeks old and we decided to brave dining out in public with him. We went to a buffet with Michael's parents. It was not so great, but Michael did well taking care of the baby- feeding him and changing him, but not getting much to eat for himself!
6/12/06: Chase 5 weeks old First family photo June 11, 2006 We're about to go insane now. Yes, in just one month we've gone from nearly insane to all out want-to-run-away crazy. I know, it should soon pass. Still, in the moment, it's hard. Anyway, they can be good on occasion. Here they are below. We finally gave in and let them hold the baby again (so that hopefully they wouldn't sneak and do it when we're not there). Chase is funny- when they're around his eyes get all big. I think he's scared of them since they get in his face and always touch his hair. The girls enjoyed swimming again yesterday since it was plenty hot outside.

Jose Cuervo & Enfamil -beverages to keep the whole family happy! June 9, 2006 Emily went to the River Festival with Daddy on Friday. It was her special time with him. They got to do the face painting, playing in the sand, making crafts, and enjoying the bad food that's there (c'mon, deep fat fried Twinkies?). Chase and I went to visit Aunt Jessie, who has now moved to Chapman. We're excited to have her close by. Chase did okay in the car most of the time and was great while we were there visiting. Since it's been so hot out lately, we've been having sandwiches a lot. Michael makes the girls 'butterfly' shaped sandwiches. He's so creative- this day (pictured) he made the watermelon pieces into flower shapes and told them that it was a butterfly landing on a flower. Clever.

June 8, 2006 Chase is one month old. At his doctor appointment he weighed 9lbs 11oz and was 22 inches long. He had a stubborn button, so he had to have that darn cord removed. People comment on his hair all the time. It is some crazy, cute hair! He's still in the mode of wanting to eat constantly and to be held, bounced, rocked, or otherwise moved the remainder of his waking moments. He's starting tomake little noises at us and look around more. He'll actually sleep for a solid 5 hours at night and wakes up to eat at 11:30 and 4:30 . At least he's getting on a schedule! Chase 1 month old, holding himself up. He has to see what's going on!!
Emily and Bethany get Daddy's help to hold Chase June 7, 2006 Today was our 9th wedding anniversary. Michael got me a pretty necklace that matches his wedding ring and he made me a card. I am not so creative, so I just emailed him one and recycled the same one that I've given him since our first anniversary (that I've added comments to). He acts like it's silly, but he likes it. I bet he'd be disappointed if I didn't give it to him! June 5, 2006 Our friends Mike and Signe had their baby boy on June 5th. We actually had the same due date (May 15th) but I went one week early and they finally induced her 3 weeks late. YIKES- glad it wasn't me. She did well though and baby Blake arrived without trouble. He was 8 lbs, 4oz and looked a lot like his daddy Mike to me. We took the troop up to the hospital to visit, which was a trick in itself. June 4, 2006 We had a busy weekend. Kassy and the girls stopped by to visit Saturday morning. Glen, Julie and the kids stopped by in the afternoon. On Sunday, Carolyn and Dellane came over and stayed with the kids while we went to see XMen at the movies. We needed a break for a bit. Michael had gotten a little pool for the kids, but Bethany enjoyed it more when he got in with them. 6/4/06: Michael & the girls swimming 6/4/06: Jy & the kids outdoors 6/3/06: Bethany, what beautiful eyes you have!
