< HomeAugust 26-27, 2006 - Megan's and World's of Fun The family packed grandma and the kids into the van and headed on a weekend road trip. Yes, we even stayed in a hotel. They even got to swim in the hotel pool. The kids just loved that part. We got to see our cousin for her shower before she had her baby girl, then we enjoyed a day at World's of Fun. The kiddie rides were a blast for us all to ride. We're glad grandma came along to chaperone us so that Chase could have some company. Gazebo at Megan's Train at World's of Fun
Daddy on the kid rides with the girls August 23, 2006 - We can't keep up. I'll admit defeat. Michael admits it too. He has been sick for days now. My eyelid started twitching again. We are simply over doing it, with little to show for it. The clean laundry mountain continues to grow. We run out of dishes, even though we don't even eat at home. I haven't exercised a bit this past week. I can't even remember laying down at night since I fall asleep so quickly. Praise be to God that Chase slept nearly until six this morning. It's a far cry from his typical 4am. I mowed the yard tonight. The girls said that I couldn't mow because "you're not a daddy". Let's clear all of this up-- I know how to mow and I did a dang good job too. It's just that I have been pregnant for the last four years, so I got out of mowing quite a bit. I would much rather mow than cook ANY day. 8/23/06: Emily all prettied up August 22, 2006 - I've been racing to complete some continuing education before my license renewal date. I was too busy doing MBA stuff, so I got behind on my SLP training. I did 5 in two days though! We are enjoying the lovely sounds of giant fans and a dehumidifier tonight. Last night I discovered a wonderful smelly leak that resulted from the over abundance of rain we received last week making its way through a hole the plumbers forgot to seal when they put the sprinklers in last year. Yet another inconvient, pricey mess to add to the joys of owning a house... 8/21/06: Look at this big boy! He has beautiful eyes just like his sisters. Bethany has been getting so independent lately. Nearly every night she sneaks in and sleeps on the floor next to daddy though. I think she's having some 'middle child' issues. I feel for her- I've been there myself. She has been a momma lately. Michael caught her tossing off her shirt, getting the boppy and pretend breast feeding her baby doll the other day. funny! Chase tried some applesauce the other night. He liked it and ate it well, but he coughed and coughed soon after he finished. As a speech path, I work with people with swallowing difficulties, so I know that he's not quite ready for food yet. He's not a big eater- he only takes about 6 oz bottles and has no interest in mommy milk anymore. We have him sit at the supper table in his highchair for meals now. He likes to interact with us all the time. It's such a joy to see his smile and to watch him discover new things- like his feet! He is just so beautiful. August 21, 2006 - Today was a big day in the Oetken household- Emily was off for her first school experience. Today was day 1 of preschool. I guess it's the first day in a long, long line of school days that we'll get to experience for the next 20+ years. That makes me feel tired and old... uh. Speaking of feeling old, Michael did a not-so-nice thing the other day. I thought he was leaning over to kiss me or something but NO- he was checking out my new gray hair! After that I believe a few more changed color just because he pointed it out. I'm not even 30!
8/21/06: Emily's 1st day of preschool. Grandma Carolyn made a special dress for this occasion. August 19, 2006 - Jennifer has been having a tough time adjusting to two little babies. Our clan went down to Wichita to visit. I tried to help her with laundry and caring for the kids. She was able to get some sleep. I don't know that I was so much help, since my kids were there too. Oh well, it was fun to get to see them. They grow and change so fast. I don't want to miss it! 8/19/06: Jd, Jenn and our clan of kids (6 of them, geez !!)

August 15, 2006 - We've been hangin' at home. Momma is back to work. The kids are getting into the routine of having daddy get them ready in the mornings then they go to 'work' at Grandma Pam's. I try to get home as soon as I can, but I manage to hit some 7pm nights. Michael is being a trooper though. (I think he's thinking of that paycheck that will start up again!) The girls are so sassy. They act like little models. They often call us Mom and Dad instead of mommy and daddy already. Chase really loves the girls. They make him smile with their silly antics. Emily has only tried to smother him once. Bethany has smacked him and has shaken his bouncy seat when he cried too much for her liking-- nothing too bad yet... Emily got her very first haircut at Walmart. She sat so nice. Bethany had to have an 'air' cut after sissy was done. Emily has been going around flipping her hair about and telling everyone about it. Pam said that Emily has the makings of a model. 8/15/06: Emily & Bethany pose-n-play 8/14/06: Kids together

8/14/06: Daddy & Chase August 12, 2006 - McDonald's Party Olivia's birthday is the same day as Emily's. Olivia celebrated her 4th birthday at McDonald's party this Saturday. The girls loved the play place, of course. Chase and Blake got to hang out together. Daddy dressed Chase in his cute camo outfit, complete with camo sandals (see pic). Blake has grown so big in just a few weeks since we saw him last. The boys are a month apart. I hope they'll be good friends. Emily and Olivia will be attending preschool together starting next week too. I made it through my first week back at work. I ended up getting home at 7 two nights, but that's okay since I had to take a day off to see the Wiggles. I'm so very tired. We didn't do so hot keeping up with the house. Maybe we'll get better with practice? I did like having Jess around at work. We even share a room at one school. Once school starts, we will probably won't see each other much, but it's so nice to have her so close! Blake (2mo), Jana, Michael, & Chase (3mo) August 11, 2006 - Emily had her 4 year well child check today. She was 43 inches tall and weighed 40 pounds. She maxed out on the development skills (which I think goes up to 6). She is doing just fine. What a growing girl I have! Emily: "I'm FOUR!" August 8, 2006 - Wiggly Party!! Today is Emily's actual birthday. The Wiggles came to Wichita to help her celebrate! First the girls and Michael got to see baby JT for the first time. He has already changed since he was born on Saturday. Then Chase got to chill out with cousin Julie while we headed for the Wiggly Party. Emily was shy to start with, but she soon warmed up and was wiggling just as much as Bethany. It was a really great show, even Daddy was singing along. The Wiggles
Bethany & Emily having fun with their Wiggly Lights August 5, 2006 - Baby JT born & Emily's Party Welcome to baby JT. I got a call at 3:30am on Saturday morning from my sister. I headed to Wichita. Luckily JT joined us by 7:30am and gave my sister no trouble. He was 8lbs 3oz and 19.5 inches long. He had curly red-blonde hair. Soon after Jenn was feeling better, I headed back home so that we could get to the birthday party for Emily, which we hosted at the Villa. (Yes, there was a lot of driving involved!) Aunt Jeridy, JT, & Momma Jenn Friends and family joined us to celebrate Emily's 4th birthday. She got lots of Barbie and Princess stuff- her favorites. Grandma Carolyn even made a special Barbie cake. Thanks to you all for joining us. Cousin Jordyn, Bethany, Momma Jeridy, & Emily
