APRIL 30, 2005 Aunt Jaimee is in Colorado and my parents are in Oklahoma. We were suppposed to go to Topeka for the weekend, but plans changed. We decided to stick around and just clean. It was beautiful weather, so the kids spent a lot of time outside. Grandma and Grandpa Oetken came to visit. Michael got to go golfing with his dad. I got a nice nap and the girls got to see the grandparents. Bethany showing off her cuteness 4/30/05 Emily absolutely loves Grandma Carolyn 4/30/05 APRIL 28, 2005 Today was my first day of my new full time position. I am now the director of speech language services for Geary Rehab and Fitness Center. It should be a great experience. APRIL 24, 2005 Today we enjoyed a day at the zoo. Grandma and Grandpa Oetken came down to spend the day with the girls there. They have a new museum there too. The girls were a little young yet, but they still had their things that they liked. Bethany just wanted the freedom to walk wherever she wanted. Emily wanted to walk along the railroad ties and see the snakes. Silly kids. By the end they were both wanting to ride in the stroller. My legs are sore from pushing and walking the hills, but it was a good time. Michael got to go golfing with his dad too. Carolyn, the girls, and I played outside and got flowers from Lowes. APRIL 23, 2005 Bethany is 15 months old. She can eat big people food and just loves pizza. She had her doctor checkup and is doing just fine. She weighs 22 lbs and is 33 inches tall. Lately she's been trying to do some talking but mostly just likes to scream, grunt, and point to get what she wants. Bethany 15 months old 4/23/05 APRIL 18, 2005 I didn't have to work today and Michael ended up not working either. We got home from our long weekend and ended up having to install a new water heater. UH! Dellane and Carolyn came down to assist thankfully. The sitter had the day off too, so we spent the day at home as a family. It was a beautiful day so the girls enjoyed their toys and I got some cute pictures. Bethany hiding out 4/18/05 Emily 4/18/05 APRIL 17, 2005 We went home to Otis to spend Saturday. We saw Terri and Alfrecia and celebrated Aunt Charlene's birthday. Then we were off to Wichita on Sunday. We stopped in to see Pillar Mike since they were playing in town. Emily was scared of him so she now keeps saying, "I don't like Mike. He scare me." I haven't seen them play for years and we missed them once again. We went to Glen's to visit. Emily and Olivia just loved each other. Bethany enjoyed their slipper slide. We also went to Jennifer's house. Michael helped work on the basement some more too. Bethany, Olivia, & Emily 4/18/05
Jennifer 6 months pregnant 4/18/05 APRIL 9, 2005 I had to add to this date. Jaimee wrecked yet another car and, yes, it's totalled. We have to call her little Terra. The funny thing is, she bought Terra's old car and that's the one she totalled this time. We can joke because she was just fine (again). Now she's driving the 'grocery-getter' Buick from Dad. APRIL 9, 2005 Today was the open house out at Michael's work. We went there and the girls had a nice time. There were airplanes and helicopters, boats, computers, and all kinds of other entertaining things. They liked the balloons and the ice cream the most. It was very windy out. We played outside in the yard since the sun was shining. Our tree out front looked and smelled so nice with the blooming blossoms. Emily got pictures taken at WalMart today. She wore her Dorothy outfit and brought along her basket, Toto and even her movie case. They looke really cute on the preview screen. Of couse we didn't just buy the package. We left spending way too much money, just as we always do at WalMart!
Emily and Bethany playing outside. Our pretty little tree is covered with beautiful blossoms. 4-9-05 We all rode in the 1935 Fire Truck. Emily got to ring the bell. 4-9-05
Emily just loved climbing in the the Army helicopter. 4-9-05 APRIL 8, 2005 My sister Joni and her husband Greg had baby Karley Lynn today. It's also my Grandma's 74th birthday. They named her their middle names (Daddy's is Karl and Mommy's is Lynn). At first it was Brandy, but it changed since I was there. We went to see little Miss Baby the first day she was born. She wouldn't open her eyes for us at all. She was so sweet and solemn. Emily loved holding her (with Greg's help). We ate pizza with big sissy Jordyn and the three girls ran all over the party room at pizza hut. It will be fun when they are all older and will be running around together! Mommy Joni is doing fine. She was still recovering from the delivery. All went well for her. She said this one really didn't hurt at all! I guess we're just made to have these kiddos? Sweet Cousin (Niece) Karley born April 8, 2005 Grandbaby Landers #5 (4th girl in less than 3 years!) APRIL 3, 2005 Bethany has been changing so much. She is filling out quite a bit. You can just see the changes in her physically. She is nearly finished with her bottles. She doesn't use her bottle at all at the sitter and rarely uses her pacifier there. At home, she still uses her pacifier at bedtime and when she needs to calm herself in the car. She is starting to say some words more often, but she mostly likes to grunt at us loudly and interject some screams to get the most rapid response. We do jump when she is making such a racket too! For now, she has been saying hi, that, dada, and mama. She has something close to up at times. She has been saying 'sssssss!'. We think this must be an imitation of 'shhhh!' she might hear at the sitter but we're not sure? She is a dancing queen still. She jams out to the beat all the time. Bethie is forever climbing up on things, grabbing and doing all sorts of physical stuff. She took off running towards grandma's house when we were playing outside in Otis this weekend. Emily is a chatter box. Today she said "God made me feel sad." I have no idea why, but I tried to get that out of her. Her answers to why questions involve her restating what she just said or she just says, "because I do." Emily loves to play hide-and-seek. In fact, this weekend she played when it wasn't time to play. Mommy couldn't find her and got very scared. I screamed across the road for Michael to come to Mom's to help me look for her. We were searching all over outside when she suddenly appeared. I was so scared! She said, "I hiding" but she didn't show me where she was. I remember doing that same thing to my mom when I was little. Yep, life got me back!! The girls had fun getting to stay at our house in Otis. They like riding in the new car. When Emily sees either grandma's house she gets so excited. Sometimes she'll even say "I sited!" (I'm excited). They played with cousin Jordyn twice on this trip. They also got to visit Kelsey and drive her little Barbie Jeep. It's always hard for them to leave their Otis toys and the grandparents to come back to Salina, but when they get home there is all of their home stuff to enjoy too. They are lucky girls to have family so close. |
